Development Department
To develop people and empower them is one of our most important goals. “It is a better way to teach a man how to fish rather than just give him a fish”. We try to inspire, help children and adults to find their hidden talents and uplift them and encourage them to try and try again.
Unite, Learn and Empower (ULE)
The Unite, Learn and Empower program, ULE for short, aims to organize people, especially women, in indigent areas to be more aware of their situation and more importantly find ways to break the vicious circle of poverty. The members are introduced to a series of awareness lessons and to a voluntary savings program that leads to the availability of a micro credit loan. The program is conducted in three areas, Payatas in Quezon City, San Isidro and San Jose in Rodriguez and Sitio Tanza, San Jose, Antipolo in Rizal. During three years 2017-2019, the program is funded by SIDA through Swedish Mission Council.
Small Ruminant Farm
This program is located in Tacloban and started as a relief program after the typhoon Yolanda in November 2013. It aims to help poor farmers to find new sources of income as their coconut three were destroyed by the typhoon. One of the leading ideas is to improve the native goat breed by cross breeding local goats with Anglo Nubians goats. This will give a goat that is:
- Adaptive/resistant to the local climate, hot and humid.
- Larger size of goat
- More meat – at time of slaughter
- More milk when milking
The female goats will be lended out to farmers and all the male offspring will be given back to the program while 2 of 3 female offspring will be kept by the farmers. The farmers will participate in education, their work will be monitored – like they will be helped if the goats are sick etc. After seven years the farmer could keep the original goats as their own.
Kidz Connect
This is a program mainly for school children to create meaningful activities before and after school. The program offers 2 hours of play, games, spiritual teaching, tutorials, music, cooking, sports etc. to the children living in the actual area.
Kiddy Bible Class (KBC)
This is an outreach program and operates in cooperation with a number of local churches per year. The vision is to inspire and encourage for continued Children’s Ministry in these churches.
The Program has three parts:
Kiddy Bible Class (KBC). During a 12-week period the Team will come and conduct a KBC class that will include singing, games and teachings from the Bible with the aid of puppets and other visual materials.
At the end of a 12-week period, a Kids Camp is organized. Selected children from the areas will have the opportunity to attend a camp for 3 days.
During the 12-week period, 2-day training for Child Ministry workers will be conducted at Hills of Grace center.
